Does anyone know how to file a complaint against Jiffy Lube?

I went in for a simple oil change and when I walked out it ended up costing me $100.54. I am going to make a call to the district manager but I was looking for a way to file a formal compaint against their business practices.

36.99 oil service

5.99 x 6 for syntetic oil - high milage

14.99 upgrade for %26quot;topping%26quot; off my oil - I did not ask for this

35.99 for 2 wiper blades. This is my fault I should have known better

I raised hell but in the end I had to pay for it. I usually change my own oil but I needed it done soon becuase I am taking a trip out of town and I want to make sure my fliuds were topped off and all the points were greased.

Also to All just beware when taking your vehicle to Jiffy Lube. They also tried to sell me over $1000 worth of vehicle maintenance that my truck absolutly needed or else it was going to break down. My truck runs great and it always hasDoes anyone know how to file a complaint against Jiffy Lube?
Well, if you are using synthetic oil, get used to oil changes costing much more than %26quot;normal%26quot; oil changes.

My car takes 6 1/2 quarts of synthetic and I have paid anywhere from $65-$90 for oil changes.

Also, the cost of the wiper blades doesn't seem too outrageous to me. I get mine from the auto parts store and they are normally about $15 each.

I don't really know what that %26quot;topping%26quot; service is so I cant comment on that.

Remember that when you are using synthetic oil, you can go longer between changes. Currently I change it ever 6000 miles even though the oil life indicator still says that I don't need to change it yet.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I know I was surprised at the cost of the 1st synthetic oil change. After that first experience I had, I always check for coupons now.Does anyone know how to file a complaint against Jiffy Lube?

Save the dead rabbit

A man was driving along the highway, and saw a rabbit hopping across the middle of the road. He swerved to avoid hitting the rabbit, but unfortunately the rabbit jumped in front of the car and was hit. The driver, being a sensitive man as well as an animal lover, pulled over to the side of the road and got out to see what had become of the rabbit. Much to his dismay, the rabbit was dead. The driver felt so awful he began to cry.

A woman driving down the highway saw the man crying on the side of the road and pulled over. She stepped out of her car and asked the man what was wrong.

%26quot;I feel terrible,%26quot; he explained. %26quot;I accidently hit this rabbit and killed it.%26quot;

The woman told the man not to worry. She knew what to do. She went to her car trunk and pulled out a spray can. She walked over to the limp, dead rabbit, and sprayed the contents of the can onto the rabbit. Miraculously, the rabbit came to life, jumped up, waved its paw at the two humans and hopped down the road. 50 feet away the rabbit stopped, turned around, waved at the two again, hopped down the road another 50 feet, turned, waved, and hopped another 50 feet. The man was astonished. He couldn't figure out what substance could be in the woman's spray can! He ran over to the woman and demanded, %26quot; What was in your spray can? What did you spray onto that rabbit?%26quot; The woman turned the can around so that the man could read the label. It said:

%26quot;'Hare Spray' Restores Life to Dead Hare. Adds Permanent Wave.%26quot;

New driver's license

Martin had just received his brand new drivers license. The family troops out to the driveway, and climbs in the car, where he is going to take them for a ride for the first time. Dad immediately heads for the back seat, directly behind the newly minted driver.

%26quot;I'll bet you're back there to get a change of scenery after all those months of sitting in the front passenger seat teaching me how to drive,%26quot; says the beaming boy to his father.

%26quot;Nope,%26quot; comes dad's reply, %26quot;I'm gonna sit here and kick the back of your seat as you drive, just like you've been doing to me all these years.

Snake solves problem

I was driving down a lonely country road one cold winter day when it began to sleet pretty heavily. My windows were getting icy and my wiper blades were badly worn and quickly fell apart under the strain.

Unable to drive any further because of the ice building up on my front window I suddenly had a great idea. I stopped and began to overturn large rocks until I located two very lethargic hibernating rattle snakes. I grabbed them up, straightened them out flat and installed them on my blades and they worked just fine.

What! You've never heard of . . . wind chilled vipers?Found these just to see if they will make you laugh, are ya laughing?

Golden Telephone

A man in Topeka, Kansas, decided to write a book about

churches around the country. He started by flying to

San Francisco, and started working east from there.

Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs

and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the

vestibule wall and was intrigued with a sign which read

%26quot;$10,000 a minute.%26quot; Seeking out the pastor he asked about

the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that this

golden phone is,in fact, a direct line to Heaven and if he

pays the price he can talk directly to God. The man

thanked the pastor and continued on his way.

As he continued to visit churches in Seattle, Austin,

Michigan, Chicago, Milwaukee, and around the United

States, he found more phones, with the same sign, and the

same answer from each pastor.

Finally, he arrived in Minnesota. Upon entering a church

in Minneapolis, Minnesota behold, he saw the usual golden

telephone. But THIS time, the sign read %26quot;Calls: 25 cents.%26quot;

Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor. %26quot;Reverend, I

have been in cities all across the country and in each

church I have found this golden telephone and have been

told it is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk

to God, but, in the other churches the cost was $10,000 a

minute. Your sign reads 25 cents a call. Why?%26quot;

The pastor, smiling benignly, replied, %26quot;Son, you're in

Minnesota now, and it's a local call.%26quot;

At the Henry Street Hebrew School, Goldblatt, the new teacher, finished the day's lesson. It was now time for the usual question period.

%26quot;Mr. Goldblatt,%26quot; announced little Joey, %26quot;there's something I can't figure out.%26quot;

%26quot;What's that Joey?%26quot; asked Goldblatt.

%26quot;Well accordin' to the Bible, the Children of Israel crossed the Red Sea, right?%26quot;

%26quot;Right.%26quot;

%26quot;An' the Children of Israel beat up the Philistines, right?%26quot;

%26quot;Er--right.%26quot;

%26quot;An' the Children of Israel built the Temple, right?%26quot;

%26quot;Again you're right.%26quot;

%26quot;An' the Children of Israel fought the 'gyptians, an' the Children of Israel fought the Romans, an' the Children of Israel wuz always doin' somethin' important, right?%26quot;

%26quot;All that is right, too,%26quot; agreed Goldblatt. %26quot;So what's your question?%26quot;

%26quot;What I wanna know is this,%26quot; demanded Joey. %26quot;What wuz all the grown-ups doin%26quot;?

One day the Minister decided to have the outside of his church repainted and Murphy volunteered, %26quot;Sure I`ll do a grand job sir, you leave it to me.%26quot;

So Murphy had an idea,'If I thin all the paint down sure I can do the job for half the cost and pocket the difference.'

So Murphy is painting away at the top of the ladder humming happily to himself when suddenly a huge bolt of lightening hits him and he ends up on the ground with smoke pouring from his hair and ears and he looks up to the sky and cries,`%26quot; God I`m sorry what must I do to make up for me sin`?%26quot;

And a loud voice booms down `%26quot;Repaint ,Repaint and Thin no more Murphy.%26quot;

Do you feel getting the optional BMW service contract that extends from 4/50 to 6/100 worth it?

I can't remember how much this additional service contract costs, but at the time when I purchased my used 330i 2003 BMW, it seemed way too much! Has anyone really done the math or has first hand experience to see if this upfront cost is really worth it. I felt that the total repair costs from an independent good BMW mechanic would be much less than the service contract, especially for oil changes (every 10,000 miles), brakes and rotors. I can take care of the fluids and wiper blades -so no big deal there. The gamble of course is major engine or transmission problem between the years 4 - 6 ,or 50,000 -10,000 miles. What do all think?Do you feel getting the optional BMW service contract that extends from 4/50 to 6/100 worth it?
Be sure you make the distinction between BMW's extended warranty vs. the extended maintenance contract. The extended warranty covers defects. The extended maintenance just provides the routine oil changes, brakes, rotors and service inspections.

I would get the extended warranty if you plan to keep the car. The extended maintenance is questionable unless you can get it for a good deal. You can probably manage oil changes and routine service cheaper from an independent mechanic.Do you feel getting the optional BMW service contract that extends from 4/50 to 6/100 worth it?
Start with the premise that the person with the most data has the advantage. That being said, do you think the car owner or the car seller has more data on failure rates and expected repair costs.

I think extended warranties are a huge moneymaker for the people selling them. Why else do you think they apply so much pressure to get the buyer to take them?

Of course if you had a crystal ball, you could know if you will ever need repairs. Since you don't, you have to assign a cost to contract that also figures in the time use of money. You will also have to figure the actual odds or probability of a repair. The final calculation needs to be the probability that you will still own the car when it need repair.Do you feel getting the optional BMW service contract that extends from 4/50 to 6/100 worth it?
Hey Fredyg,

In my opinion, it would be a good idea to get that extended warranty, I have 2 BMWs and both of them 3 series, when it comes to repairs...they will kill you, what you are talking about is preventive maintenance. If you can afford the cost upfront, go for it ...you will have a good night's sleep..trust me on that.Do you feel getting the optional BMW service contract that extends from 4/50 to 6/100 worth it?
ahh i would extend it. i have a 330ci thats constantly being brought back to the dealership to be serviced.. good luck!Do you feel getting the optional BMW service contract that extends from 4/50 to 6/100 worth it?
A service center once told me that BMW stands for %26quot;Bring Massive Wallet%26quot;. If you drive your car like I do, then its worth it. I opted not to get the warrenty and I ended up paying close to $1000 every time I took it in to get it serviced. I later learned how to reset all of the various warning sensors and service light indicators so I didn't have to take it to the dealer any time I needed repair work done.Do you feel getting the optional BMW service contract that extends from 4/50 to 6/100 worth it?
When you say Service Contract are you talking about the Maintenance upgrade Including Oil changes windshield blades Brakes,including rotors and pads ($550.00 Ea.to replace either the fronts or the rears) Scheduled service inspections Belts Engine air filters Brake fluid service ..Remember this service is preformed by quality service expert tech's The price also includes Roadside Assistance and should offer a Loaner program..The cost of the Brakes alone should pay for the full extra 2 yr's or up to 100k Miles I can tell you this I bought it for my 2003 325CiDo you feel getting the optional BMW service contract that extends from 4/50 to 6/100 worth it?
Extended maintenance:

Ehh anyone can do an oil change. I dont care what anyone says, the oil change process is the same. just the parts used are different. And I'd never do 10k on any oil. But thats just me

As for the warranty, HOW MUCH is the warranty?

If its 1500, I'd go for it. 2k+...ehh I dunno.

Brakes are expensive, yes. The rotor and pad are designed to wear out together, thats why.

IF you plan on driving it badly (tracking etc), then it may be a very good idea!

Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?

he got all his filters changed out, oils topped off, oil changed, air intake, cabin air filter, wiper blades replaced, transmition flush. im not sure the specifics, i need to find the reciepts.....but it cost $171

im having a hard time believing that's how much it costs. he had never been there before and didn't know the specs on how much those should cost....also, they broke our glove box and didn't tell us (its where the cabin air filter is at)

should i be pissed?Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Sorry, but It's not Jiffy Lube's fault that your boyfriend didn't look at their prices before he asked them to do all the work. If Jiffy Lube posts all their prices and $171 is the total for all that service, then that's what it costs to have them do it. Their prices should be clearly posted in the store - go to the store and make sure they charged him correctly if you doubt the price is correct.

As for the glovebox being broken, I'd take the car back ASAP and talk to the manager of the Jiffy Lube about how it was broken after you had them change the cabin filter and work out how they're going to pay to fix it for you.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
After all the parts/labour that's probably about right.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
BELIEVE IT.........

If it 10 years old or newer it costs to have a ride servicedDid my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
the only thing you have to be upset about is the broken glove box. to flush a manual trans at the dealer is like $100 and an auto trans at the dealer is like $200 all by its self so no the prices are ok but breaking things is unacceptable.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
My oil changes only cost me $29.99 with all the mentioned services. Wiper blades only cost me $20 from Auto Parts World and they change them for me. I have never changed transmition fluid, that's only if there is a specific problem. Filters are relatively inexpensive, maybe add $30-$40 to the total $80-$100 MAX! $171 was a hard screwing over and than some!Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Yeah I would be upset too. Much of that could have been replaced by you at a much cheaper cost if you had bought the parts yourself. I have not been to a Jiffy Lube on a decade. I figured out how to do all that myself saving me hundreds of dollars over time. It's not likely the trans needed to be flushed. All of those filters could have been picked up at your local parts store for 1/3 of what he paid I'm sure. Wiper blades would have been $14 for the pair at a parts store. Those swift talking people there are the reason why I don't go. They are not experts on my specific car.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Yes and no. Having all that work done at a place like Jiffylube can cost that much. If you do it on your own you can have it done for $50. If you do have them do the oil change don't ever have them add anything extra. Replacing an air filter is as easy as opened a case and putting a new $10 filter in, they will typically charge you $20 to have just that done. And yes, you should be pissed that they broke your glove box.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Parts alone wont cost that much. At garage they will always charge you for laber too. To me it sound about right. But it also depands what kind of oil or filter he got. The cheapest? Most expansive. Some places even charge $2 to install a single wiper blade. Cabin air filters can be expensive for some cars too.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
it sounds like that would be very close for all that service

but was all of it needed?

some garages pay a base amount plus commission

the more they do the bigger their payDid my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
He should have been told the cost before any extra work was done and approved it with his signature. If that was the case then he should have no complaints other than the broken glove box. It is not their fault he approved the work and then wants to complain about the price after the work is performed. If they performed the extra work without advising him of the cost and getting his signature as approval then YES he should be pissed, and should complain to them and the District or Regional manager. You will be surprised how attentive these shops can be when you ask for the address of either of these managers.

(retired ASE mechanic)Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Buy a car never have any money. Buy a motorbike still have some money. Buy a push bike stay rich.Ain;t difficult.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
buyer beware!

your boyfriend should be more knowledgable about his car. that's how these places make the extra money, based on customer's ignorance. the techs let the customer know how often these items need changed or replaced, then strongly recommends having it done. the ultimate decision is left up to the customer, who wants to take care of his car and usually ok's the service, not realizing how quickly it all adds up until he pays at the end. (most likely, these services were not needed to be done anyway)

as for the glovebox, definitely take your car back and have the manager inspect it. he should take care of that right away, and if not, ask him for the regional manager's and corporate headquarter's phone numbers.

good luck and hope this helps

-a former jiffy lube %26quot;certified lubrication technician%26quot;Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Ican't believe jiffy lube had all that. if u went to the dealer theyd charge u twice that. but dont go to those quick lube places. its just a matter of time before they strip your oil pan threads or god knows what else..Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
They charge by how long it takes, not how easy/hard it is to do. That price sounds right, but as everyone is saying, that glove box issue he'll have to pay for it and might catch crap from his boss(es) for not telling anyone. Mechanics get a lot of %26quot;ever since%26quot;s as in %26quot;ever since you worked on my car this this this that stopped working....%26quot; which usually are something that the customer notices after they get their car back or maybe even previously knew about and took it in to blame it on the mechanic but this one is legit, It wont be hard to get them to fix the glove box. I tend to avoid specialty places like that though because if they break something, they don't know how to fix like the glove box, they have to send it to someone else, and they charge more.

Need some help changing my windshield wipers?

i got a 2006 nissan maxiam a few months back and the guy i bought it from lost the owners manual so i don't know how to change the windshield wipers. i've looked online for info and they say pull the release tab, but when i push the tab, i can't get the blade out

thanks for you timeNeed some help changing my windshield wipers?
Depends on whether you are trying to replace the entire wiper assembly or just the rubber blade itself.

Many wiper arms have a hook at the end and you push the wiper toward the base of the wiper arm instead of pulling away from it.

To get just the rubber blade out I normally use pliers to bend one of the metal tabs on either side of the blade, at the end of the blade closest to the base of the arm, and slide the support band out. The blade will almost fall out without either one of the support bands. Then you slide the replacement back in.

The easiest was is to go to Autozone, Advance Auto, etc and they'll change them for you for free.Need some help changing my windshield wipers?
make it easy on yourself, get a tin snips or a wire cutters and cut off the old ones (do not cut the pole it sits on)

The wipers pull straight off of the post (that is 90 degrees from the wiper arm)

I once bent the arm trying to remove the wiper... look at the new wiper and see the center hole... that is the separation point.

cut it off and save yourself time

the new one snaps right back on that pole (it is about an inch or so long)

    The reason I ask these questions is because I want to maintain my vehicle myself as much as possible. The only exception is oil, lube, and filter change and freons. Thank you. I would greatly appreciate your help.How often should you maintain your car?
    long list and easy to say you do it everyday every week and every month

    first one 3000 miles oil and filter rotate tires check tire monthly or more wil save life of tire and get better fuel mileage

    power steering fluid really dont have to ever been change just toped off

    coolant/anti-freeze top off change like every three yrs

    break fluid top off never change

    Transmission fluid check like oil change oil and filter but like at 60,000 120,000 miles

    has for fuel buy at place you stop at most offen fil with best they have set mileage drive til you need more try next octane level set mileage used the one that gets the best miles which will vary with each place knowing a few brands and type to use but most cars will run fine on them all but using the one that gets yourcar the best mileage is the one you want to use

    windshield wiper blades once a yr

    freons have it check once a yr

    wash when dirty wax every other time or about four times or so a year when ever you feel like it has for

    cleaning insides when ever

    wheel alignment once a yr or if you see tires are wearing or it drives funny as for wheel rotation easy to remember to do it with oil change about every 3000 miles its not so much as when to but to do most people dont do it at all heres a couple sites that you can find how to's and when

    How often should you maintain your car?
    Read your cars manual. It will tell you how often to service and what to do when you service it.

    You should check your tyres as often as you can and definately before long journeys. You should get a pump.

    Differences in petrol(gas) are only the octane rating, use regular unless your car requires premium. (Read the manual)

    Freon is a trade name, but I assume you mean air conditioning refrigerant, you don't need to do anything with this unless your air conditioning stops working.

    You clean your car when it gets dirty... I wax mine every time I wash it.. and I wash it a lot. It is personal preferance.

    Wheel alignment I'd have done every year, unless you notice a problem. Make sure you get a 4 wheel alignment if you drive a rear wheel drive car.How often should you maintain your car?
    Every car make is a little different, look in your service manual it'll have all that info.

    Will my tires pass the roadworthy test?

    i am getting a renewal roadworthy certificate. i think everything is fine, car runs really well and ive just changed oil filter and wiper blades. i heard somewhere that if u get a roadworthy no matter what state your tires and windscreen are in they will change them. even if your tires are brand new. is this true? my tires still have a fair bit of treat left in them, they are 3 years old and i dont drive it much, only to and from work. so whats the deal here? how much will a roadworthy cost anyways? in melbourne australia:)Will my tires pass the roadworthy test?
    Not necessarily true, depends on the condition of your tires. %26quot;Fair bit of tread%26quot; is kind of vague, so I can't help you there. Any tires store can take a look at them for you.Will my tires pass the roadworthy test?
    any tire store can tell or you can type into search box

    how to inspect tiresWill my tires pass the roadworthy test?
    take a penny and stick it in the center of the tread. If you can not see the rim you are ok.

    Should I pay this much for my transmission or go somewhere else?

    Hi, My name is Aaron. I have a 1994 Buick Regal with just about 73,000 miles on it. I bought it from an older couple for $3,200. I have owned it for about a year now and hasn't had any major problems.

    Last 2 months ago, I just put a brand new cooling system,water pump, oil change, and windshield wiper blades for about $350. I go to a shop called %26quot;Jiffy Oil%26quot; which they know my car backwards and forwards and also give me discounts (They know my mom).

    Anyways, my car started making noise so I took it to them. They knew it was my transmission, but have no skills into repairing it. They told me to go down to the transmission place next to Dairy Queen and tell them Jiffy Oil sent you and it was Mark. I said Ok and took my car down there.

    The guy there at the transmissions place got in my car listened to the noise and opened the hood. He showed me exactly what the problem was. It had chunks of metal everywhere..I had no idea how it happened. He said it would run me about $1,100 to repair it as if it were brand new and would give me 12 months free repair with insurance as well. I told him I'd think about it and take my car some other places first. I went to three other places I knew. The first one said $1,600 and would be $200 extra for insurance for only 6 months. The second one said $6,800. They told me it was totally damaged, never seen anything like it before. And the third one said $9,200..they said pretty much the same thing as the second. Both did not include insurance. My dad said that is outrageous for such prices and doesn't know what to do either. My cousin, which is a Diesel/Automotive Machanic, said that the first one was a good deal and I should go with it, because my car would only sell for $500 if I wanted to sell it. Please help! Thanks everyone.Should I pay this much for my transmission or go somewhere else?
    The $1100 is definitely a good deal.Should I pay this much for my transmission or go somewhere else?
    ac_johns71014, I had similar problems last week and was glad I got my repairs covered under my extended warranty. They are less expensive if you don't buy them from the manufacturer. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Warranty-Quote.htmlShould I pay this much for my transmission or go somewhere else?
    $1,000 is,nt bad for all that work. i believe i would go with that. the reason the chunks were there was they never kept the fluid and filter changed.Should I pay this much for my transmission or go somewhere else?
    I would go with $1100. Why not just get a rebuilt one and exchange it. Look into that instead of going for repairs.Should I pay this much for my transmission or go somewhere else?
    $1,100 is definitely a good price. Especially with the economy the way it is you're lucky to find anyone that will fix the car for under $2000. It depends on how much you love your car though if you feel you'd rather sell it then do it.

    How do I remove scratches in an automobile windshield?

    This is a 1995 Nissan Sentra. The scratches have been caused by the windshield wipers. Apparently the previous owner neglected to change the blades periodically.How do I remove scratches in an automobile windshield?
    I have some personal experience with this. The rubbing compound method won't work unless the scratches are VERY light, and even then you have to be careful, as too much rubbing wit h the abrasive rubbing compound will leave a hazy area on the glass (micro-scratches from the abrasives). You can go to your local auto glass shop and see if they can repair the wiper scratches, but even if they can (somewhat doubtful unless they're REALLY deep), the resin they use is not totally clear; you'll always be able to see the repair, even though it might make it look better short term. That kind of repair usually only works well on chips and stars.

    Frankly, I'd eventually go with replacing it, because I honestly don't think you'll like the results otherwise. If it should get any further damage or develop a crack as a result of the scoring from the wiper scratches, your insurance will cover replacing it under %26quot;comprehensive%26quot; coverage. If you don't have that coverage, and can't afford a new windshield out of pocket, you can go to a salvage yard and obtain a good quality used one. Most auto glass places will install the used one for you for a modest fee (grudgingly, as they'd rather sell you a new one). Hope this info helped.How do I remove scratches in an automobile windshield?
    Depending on the depth of the scratches. You could either buff them out with rubbing compound or wax.

    Of you will have to use a epoxy to fill in if they are deep. I would suggest you hire someone that is trained in doing this if you are not familiar with the technique. You can make the windshield worse or cause it to need replacement.

    Help a useless car lover out boys.?

    Well, here is the deal fellas. I am infact a useless car lover. You name a part on the motor, and tell me to fix it, I think you are speaking alien.

    Yep, the only thing I know how to do is change the wiper blades, pump in gas, and change the oil.

    Here is the main point.. A guy like me, that knows nothing of cars, and lives a meager lifestyle(don't have alot of money to blow). Should I be buying classic cars with power?? - The car I have my heart set on, his the American classic 1996/1997 Chevy Impala SS. You know the big boat with the LT1? I want that beast so bad, and I found one for 8000$ with low mileage. I researched the vehicle and apparently.. this thing was built like cr@p. It breaks down alot, regardless of all the normal tune ups(changing fluids etc. - stop laughing). I don't know if there is any truth to this as it was only a few reviews, and there was 10's of thousands of these built. Anyways.. if this thing is going to break down on me alot, and for the size of the car.. should I even be getting it? I want it bad, but the fact I am so ill-educated on fixing cars and the fact this thing was built like cr@p makes me nervous.

    What do you guys think?Help a useless car lover out boys.?
    Yep, I had me one of those. Did you know that they are only about three feet shorter than an aircraft carrier, and burn more fuel than the Exxon Valdez?

    seriously, I wouldn't mess with a car I couldn't trust no matter how much I loved it. Get something dependable.Help a useless car lover out boys.?
    PASS, get one that is older and a lot easier to work on!Help a useless car lover out boys.?
    Those are really nice machines with a big following and great resale value.It is one of the few newer reasonably priced cars that won't depreciate if kept up.I doubt that there will be any serious problems with it,especially with low miles.The LT1 is a great engine too.My opinion for what it's worth is go ahead and get it after investigating the history through Carfax and having a trusted mechanical friend take it for a drive.

    my car's windshield seems to have a thin film of something on it so when it rains at night and I put on the wipers I can hardly see as the wipers seem to spread the film more. They are awesome. Some older cars wiper arms loose tension and so the innovisions are designed to make tighter contact with windshield....How do I keep my car%26039;s windshield grease/oil free ?
    It might be your washer fluid that is the issue. My dad used a can of Coca Cola after visiting the beach to remove the film!

    Anyway, I use a mixture of dishsoap and alcohol, which is used in eye glass cleaner. Most all commercial products use alcohol in their products as well. At the very least, clean your glass with straight alcohol to break down the film and then use Rain X which does indeed work well and for a long period of time.

    Good luck.How do I keep my car%26039;s windshield grease/oil free ?
    yeah, Rain-X is magical stuff. God bless the inventor of it. One time, my windshield wiper motor stopped working so I couldn't use the wipers. I went and bought Rain-X and wiped it on kind of heavy. After that, I didn't even need to repair the wiper motor, the Rain-X was that good. Though, I must say I don't recommend/endorse you to do the same thing. Maybe I was just lucky....I think so. I only did it because I didn't have the time or money to repair the motor.

    Why do my windscreen wipers make an awful noise! ?

    Just bought a second hand 1999 Primera and the wiper on the drivers side makes an awfully loud sqeak/screech!

    I've changed the wiper blade three times (new ones), the glass appears totally clean (no grease or smears). No apparent flaw in the screen either.

    Please tell me how to sort this. MikeWhy do my windscreen wipers make an awful noise! ?
    this is caused by the blade not turning over at the end of a sweep. You need to twist the wiper arm slightly with an adjustable spanner while supporting the arm with another adjustable to avoid putting strain on the wiper motor rack.Why do my windscreen wipers make an awful noise! ?
    Even if your windshield is clean, if it hasn't been maintained, then it still has microscopic nicks and scratches in it from dust, etc. in the wind hitting it repeatedly. Run your hand over the glass. If your hand sort of %26quot;clings%26quot; to the glass and you have a hard time moving your hand across it, then you need to use a product called %26quot;Rain-X,%26quot; or something similar.

    Rain-X is silicone based, kind of like a wax for windshields. It'll make your glass super-smooth by filling in all the imperfections. It should take away the noise your wiper is making, and, the rain will roll right off of your windshield.Why do my windscreen wipers make an awful noise! ?

    How do I get a wiper arm off?

    I just bought a Peugeot 406 `98 estate. Some previous idiot changed the wiper blades to opposite sides. There is a 22 inch %26amp; a 24 inch. I could tell right away that the longest should be on the driver`s side. I checked my theory out on another identical car.

    Thing is the same idiot put a clip in the long one so I can`t just swap the blades.

    I need to get the entire arm off in order to try to get the clip off.

    I upped the bonnet %26amp; undid the securing nut, but the arm wouldn`t just lift up off the thread as I thought it would.

    Is there some kind of secret to getting the damn thing off?

    I`m afraid to pry it.

    I need help, please.How do I get a wiper arm off?
    if you really think the arm need to come off...the nut pushes it onto a spline...its like a post with small grooves and as the nut is tightened it clamps the blade so it won't rotate.which when you think about it is wise..you prise it off with a screwdriver blade from the lower part...carefully...your fingers and the windscreen ar not far away....having said all that....l think they do not need taking off...just undo the wipers from the clips.at the end of the metal arm..usually they snap in place the plastic bit has a little spigot on it which need releasing.using a tiny screwdriver.then swap the blades...and cool off prior to starting...if you get angry with cars..they bite back..lol..read the manual before starting to check you are right....just suppose you are not..eating words is no fun...How do I get a wiper arm off?
    just try and get a small screw driver under neath and gently lever it up off the splinesHow do I get a wiper arm off?
    it should pull off without taking the wiper arm off, look for U shaped plastic clip and pull it outwardsHow do I get a wiper arm off?
    you need to pry it off, the spindle that the arm is attached to is knurled,it has cogs like a gear around the face of it,the arm has the same things.When thee arm is pushed onto the spindle the %26quot;gears%26quot; slide between each other.How do I get a wiper arm off?
    after the securing nut, the other people are pretty much right, it fits into grooves...a screwdriver on the undernieth of it will help, but also, an old body shop trick is to bend the wiper back a little bit, to help relieve the pressure, then pull and wiggle it free.How do I get a wiper arm off?
    Here's a trick when you don't have a tool called a %26quot;puller%26quot; to get tapered splined shafts apart: Put the nut back on, but BE SURE it's backed off several turns. The reason is that we want to protect the threads on the shaft. Now, GENTLY hit the nut squarely with a hammer while pulling the wiper arm toard you. This tapping will usually do the trick - hit the area with a lubricant (WD40 here in the states). I had to do EXACTLY the same thing with my Citroen CX (yes, there are about 50 of them in the USA) in order to get it off to restore it.

    As every one has aleady said the reason it will not budge is that it is on splines and will need some gentle pursuading off being careful not touch the bottom off the windscreen.

    Changing wiper baldes on renault Clio 1997?

    Hi,

    Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to get the old wiper blades off my 1997 renault clio and how to get the new ones on.

    I thought it would be pretty straight forward, however, I've been unable to do it.

    Thank you allChanging wiper baldes on renault Clio 1997?
    Yes, but the mechanism may be tight with traffic film. If it makes it any easier take the arm off the spindle so you can manoevre the whole set up more easily.

    I've yet to figure out how to fit those new floppy blades.Changing wiper baldes on renault Clio 1997?
    Where the blade clicks into the arm there should be a little tang that holds the wiper on to the arm. pull down on the tang and pull the blade off the hook.Changing wiper baldes on renault Clio 1997?
    Lift the wiper arm off the window and turn the wiper blade at 90 degrees to it,some have a little clip that you press,but it should just slide off as you press down.Hope this helps

  • Does my car need new wiper blades?

    I've had my car 2 and a half years now and never changed my wiper blades (or really thought about my wipers at all). Recently, I've noticed when I switch my wipers on (usually more noticeable in a light drizzle) that instead of clearing the water off completely like normal, I'm left with smearyness. It's not dirt smears... but more of a watermark... a wet watermark. Sorry, probably not making much sense! But kinda like on a shower door after you've just been in... the way the water sometimes 'puddles' on a vertical surface.

    I'm assuming this means I need new wiper blades as I can't think what else it can be. I understand you can buy these from Halfords and are apparently easy to fit (although once saw quite a knowledgeable looking man ask for assistance in halfords to fit his...) - could some one let me know how I'm meant to go about changing them? Or how I can tell if they need changing... or is the fact that they're not actually wiping enough....?!

    FYI: it's a citroen c3 and I'm pretty car-dumb...!Does my car need new wiper blades?
    2 1/2 year old wipers. Yes, replace them. You should replace them once a year.

    it would be a good thing to change them anyway - hubby is an auto tech - says you can also try an alcohol wipe and run it along the blades - this will take off any oily stuff thrown up form the roads. if not better - than buy new ones. if you hae an autozone - they might put them on for you - or stand there and talk you thru it. good luck -Does my car need new wiper blades?
    1) Clean the blades like previous people said.

    2) Clean the windshield, and apply a water repellent treatment to the glass. Best known product is rainx, but there are plenty of products now and they all should generally work well.

    3) Replace the blades if you are still not happy.

    I cannot stress how much a water repellent treatment will help your wet driving vision.Does my car need new wiper blades?
    Well, that I know of, if your wipers are leaving smears across the windscreen then it seems that you have a build up of gunk on your wipers. Your best bet before buying new wiper blades is to place vinegar on a clean cloth and wipe down the blade, this should do the trick if not then consider buying new blades

    Hope this HelpsDoes my car need new wiper blades?
    You only need new blades if they are starting to split at the ends. What you describe is grease in the form of traffic film. It is tenacious stuff. You need to go over the windscreen with a very strong solution of washing up liquid. About a 50:50 mix with warm water. Also wipe the blades themselves with the solution. If you do a thorough job the screen should wipe clean with no smearing. Add a good windscreen wash detergent to the washer container to keep it ok.

    Incidentally, I had problems with smearing due to a rubbish wash additive. I changed it to Wickes own make and it was fine. Carplan is another good make.Does my car need new wiper blades?
    Yes you do... and it's a very common problem. Just ask the person that sells the new wiper blades to help you through your first time, I'm sure they would be glad to help.Does my car need new wiper blades?
    Replace your windshield wiper blades. Change them once a year or sooner. Go to AutoZone, Pep Boys, or any other auto mechanics store and buy them for about $5.00 a piece. They are not expensive and they clip in so any person, mechanically inclined or not, can replace them.Does my car need new wiper blades?
    Its great that your car went 2 and a half years without changing your wiper blades. It does sound like you need to change them, but only if the water streaks bother you lots. I klnow they would bother me.

    Department stores like Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire (and Halford's?) usually have a whole aisle dedicated to wiper blades. There are many makes, models and styles for each car. But don't get discouraged:

    For your car there will be about 3 to 5 different blades depending on performance. These blades will also fit other citroen cars.

    In the aisle, there's usually a book listing your make and model. If you look up %26quot;Citroen%26quot; then 20XX%26quot; then %26quot;C3%26quot; you will get a listing of those 3 to 5 wiper blades. You'll have to remember the product codes, because that's how they're sorted in the aisle.

    If you're confused yet, you can certainly ask a sales associate for assistance.

    Make sure both blades are included. Sometimes you'll have to buy the right and left seperately.

    You can also buy just the blades or whole wipers. I like buying wipers, they are easier to install.

    Check your car's owner's manual. It should have instructions on changing the wiper blades. If not, have at her. The wipers are attached with some sort of metal clip. They are fastened using friction and downward presure on the window.

    Bend the wiper blade arm upwards, it should pop up 90 degrees from the window for you to change it. Detach the old one, and attach the new one. Use gloves if your delicate, they sometimes need some elbow grease.

    There you have it!

    though, you might just want to avoid this whole ordeal and find some wiper blade silicone. It will be in the wiper aisle, kind of an oil that will make the blades supple again. just apply the oil with a cloth or your fingers to the blade. But for the cost of that stuff, you could get brand spanking new wiper blades.

    I don't know how popular Citroen's are in Britain - there's none in Canada. You may need to go to the dealership to get your blades.Does my car need new wiper blades?

    Why do my windshield wipers on my car always make noise?

    It seems every time I put on my wipers, they make noise. Even after changing the wiper blades. Is it what I am using to clean my windshield?

    When it rains real hard or consistantly I dont get the noise, just when it is drizzling or when I get road wash from other cars, little bits of rain or water.

    I've noticed with new cars they never make noise, even when the windshield is completely dry. How do I get that?Why do my windshield wipers on my car always make noise?
    The noise is caused by the friction of the rubber against the glass, therefore when there is more water for lubrication, there is less friction and therefore less noise.

    On the issue of newer cars not making the noise even with little or no water, that has to do with the fact that their windshield glass is new and smooth. With the smooth glass, the small amount of water is spread evenly across the glass, providing even lubrication. With an older windshield, there are scratches and knicks in the glass, giving the water a place to go and therefore not providing as much lubrication. When there is enough water (heavy rain, etc), the lubrication is there, and the noise stops.

    The best chance of stopping this is to get a new windshield. However, as that is likely not a viable option, you can try the same method that one would use to remove scratches and smooth out their paint job...polish and wax.

    Also, check to make sure that the arms that move your wipers aren't bent in any way, causing them to be misaligned. Good luck.Why do my windshield wipers on my car always make noise?
    try using your washer, make sure it has water in it :)Why do my windshield wipers on my car always make noise?
    cause your are using your wipers too much. if its just drizzling then you dont need to turn them on full speed. try rain-x !! best stuff. as long as the car is moving the rain just beads off the windshield.Why do my windshield wipers on my car always make noise?
    ive have this problem with my bronco, but since i live in the desert it only rains alittle so it always happens, i found out the the springs holding it down are too tight or something and pushing to hard against windsheild, i dont know how to adjust them but when it does rain really hard it dont make the noise before of all the water.Why do my windshield wipers on my car always make noise?
    Try using some rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and cleaning the wipers with that.Why do my windshield wipers on my car always make noise?
    Try triple edge wipers. They've never made noise for me or any car I've installed them on. They're a little More expensive than say An-co wipers but they have a lifetime warranty with them as well. They are silicone impregnated and that makes the water run off the windshield like rain X And helps keep them from chatteringWhy do my windshield wipers on my car always make noise?

    Prices will vary of course. You are looking at shop labor between $68 and hour and up depending on where you take it. The only repair that might shock you is the transmission leak. You didnt state if it was shifting rough or just possibly a bad gasket. This alone could run several hundred to a couple thousand for a new or rebuilt transmission. Muffler and exhaust about $349 parts an labor, tune up usually starts at $79 and up, oil change is about $19 and up, wiper blades are around $15 and you can put those on yourself to save on a labor charge. Try to get quotes on the phone first or take it in for an estimate before dropping it off to get worked on. Get a ballpark on price or else you could end up with a very large hole in your wallet.Oldsmobile repair question?
    Best suggestion, get an estimate before committing. You might also want to have different things worked on at different shops.

    The muffler shops might give you a better deal on the exhaust work.

    Do the wiper blades yourself (I dont care who you are)...Oldsmobile repair question?
    There is NO way to get a %26quot;real accurate quote%26quot; without someone looking at and properly diagnosing the vehicle. Example: you have a transmission fluid leak, Is it coming from the front pump area? In that case the transmission would have to be removed to do the repair. Or is it a transmission output shaft seal that is leaking? A transmission cooler line? Big difference in parts but there is an even greater difference between each job in the labor time each takes. New muffler and exhaust pipe. Muffler and the pipe to the back or from the exhaust manifolds back?

    Tune-up: does it need spark plugs only or cap %26amp; wires and spark plugs? There are two many variables!!Oldsmobile repair question?
    Can't say about the transmission. the rest aren't too bad.

    Wipers 10-15

    tune up 100 more or less

    oil 15-25

    muffler and pipe 200-300Oldsmobile repair question?
    if i were you i would call around and get the lowest price.it depends on where the leak is,i mean if its the front seal,then your looking at some bucks.

    How much should it cost to have an oil change, tire rotation, and new wiper blades for a 2004 6-cyl. Subaru?

    They also gave me a free car wash. Maybe I'm just out of step, but $123 seems kinda high.How much should it cost to have an oil change, tire rotation, and new wiper blades for a 2004 6-cyl. Subaru?
    well I own 3 pennzoil quick lubes and with exception with the car wash I can tell you exactly what you would have paid. Oil change with any oil except synthetic $30.95. Tire rotation $14.95. Wiper blades (we use Rain-X brand or for more we have Bosch Icons) $19.99 for the pair. $65.89+$3.96tax= $69.85 total. Yes I would say you paid way too much since I know that other than the dealer I am the most expensive quick lube in my town.How much should it cost to have an oil change, tire rotation, and new wiper blades for a 2004 6-cyl. Subaru?
    Oil change no more than $30 maybe up to $50 if it was synthetic, tire rotation is $20 pretty much anywhere you go, wiper blades no more than $10 each, so ya you might have gotten ripped off a little, nothing to write home about.

    Also was it a good car wash with a wax job? if so then thats a fair trade off for me, the auto car wash places around here cost $20 for the full ride.How much should it cost to have an oil change, tire rotation, and new wiper blades for a 2004 6-cyl. Subaru?
    Even most dealers will charge $20-25 for oil, $10-15 for rotation and $20 for wipers installed. I think the car wash cost you about $60. I'd do more than a little complaining if I were you.

    The GM dealer I go to is $20 for oil change %26amp; $10 for rotation.

    How do I Change Hyundai Santa Fe Wiper Blades?

    I just bought some more blades for my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe from Canadian Tire. I can't seem to figure out how to get the old ones off and put the new ones on. I've been out in the cold working on it twice for about half an hour each time and have had no luck at all figuring it out.How do I Change Hyundai Santa Fe Wiper Blades?
    the hyundai is a good car despite what the other person has said. to get the wiper blades off there are a couple of clips on the wiper arms. push the clip in and move the wiper arm out. then depending on how the blade is secured it should just pull out.How do I Change Hyundai Santa Fe Wiper Blades?
    dont take this personal . but my recomendation is to take the blades back and buy a different car.honday is korea's way of taken revenge on the U.S. for the korean war. they are poorly designed and cheaply made. you get what you pay for. the only thing worse than a hyunday is a yugo.and those arent allowed to be imported to U.S. anymore .due to the fact that most of them caught on fire and burned up the people inside them....E

    You just changed it? Did it work before changing the blade? If it did make sure the wiper is not binding, turn the wiper on go to the rear of the car and see if it is moving or stuck. If there is no noise or movement you need to check the fuse and make sure it is not blown.

    If it the wiper arm has a hooked fitting on its end n shaped,Then lift the arm off the windscreen and point the blade at right angles to the arm and push the blade out of the open end,there is a little lug on the blade that locks into the arm that you can push in with a screw driver if it,s tight and then push at the same time .Refitting is a reversal of removal and the lug snaps in when in the proper location--they can be tight to come off if on there a long timeChanging wiper blades fiat panda?

    So back to the question : How often do you change your wiper blades?

    ThanksHow often do you change your wiper blades???
    typically when the wiper blades are not clearing the windshield properly and leaving a streaky mess instead of nice clean windshields !!!How often do you change your wiper blades???
    I change mine every 2nd year, I live in Australia %26amp; the heat has a bad effect on the blades, why every 2nd year? because it doesn't rain much here, also every so often I pull the blades from the windshield as the sun tends to make the rubber stick to the screen %26amp; bits of rubber come off whenever I use the wipers, so by slowly pulling them from the windshield they tend not to stick when operated.How often do you change your wiper blades???
    I usually change my wipers at the beginning of Winter.How often do you change your wiper blades???
    not too often as long as they are cleaning good.i use winter blades all the time.it seems like i have better luck with them.

    Otherwise grab ahold of the arm and pull it away from the windshield. In the middle of the blade on the bottom of the hook there is a plastic release lever. Dear Wipers-

    Just change them annually. I normally do it at the first of September in my area, that is about when out rain season starts.

    If you are living in a place like the PNW, (Pacific North West), Portland, Oregon or Seattle, Washington; I would say change those wiper blades out as soon as they start streaking the window.

    As for the person who told you to use Rain-X, I agree with her. That is an excellent product. I have been using it for years. I have yet to find a better product of its type. dealer would be the best bet, i know those little rear wipers on some cars are a pain to try to get off and on. i dont know about infiniti but all you might need is a little wiper insert to get replaced not the whole blade. i say its up to you where you want to get the blade or insert for it but go to the dealer to get it put on, they know what they are doing, most likely they will have a oil changer come out and put it on for you, oil changers do wiper blade/ inserts all the time especially when winter hits.

    stop in at your local toyota dealer and buy either the inserts or the wiper and they will put it on for you at no charge if you are not sure how to do it. the inserts only work if you have the original toyota wipers on you car.

    good luckHow should I change the windshield wiper blade (driver side) of Toyota Corolla 1998?
    Pretty easy to do....on these wipers, they go on very easy. Where the blade attaches to arm, push on the little tab on the underside of the blade. While pushing on that, just wiggle/pull the wiper off (downward), then just snap the new one in place, put under the %26quot;hook%26quot; (you will see this once the old blade is off), and pull up until you hear a snap.

    Kinda goofy to explain, but very easy to change!!

    Hello, how do you change the wiper blades on a toyota previa van?

    i know how to change blades but these are giving me the flucks!!! LOL!!! Is there a special tool or something?Hello, how do you change the wiper blades on a toyota previa van?
    If you still have the original Toyota wipers, then I would recommend you buy the replacement wiper blades at your local Toyota dealer. The Do It Yourself instructions are on the back of the package bec just changed the wiper inserts on my wife's Highlander. Before doing anything, take out the new Toyota replacement wiper and measure vs one being replaced to insure you have correct size and correct one. FYI the driver's side and passenger's side on genuine wipers are different lengths. The instructions will tell you how or where to press in order to slide, separate %26amp; remove the on half with the wiper blade leaving the other half of the arm that is connected to the motor at the base. You need to observe the direction and how to reinsert this half - Before you pull off the old wiper, look closely at both ends bec they are different...one has notch. Inside there is a metal strip, one goes on each side and you will find this white plastic device to hold the wiper in place as you slide one end through tracks until it snaps into the notch. If you didn't do it right, the try aligning it again and slowly pull the wiper through each gate of the arm.... Then you can do the passenger's side...

    To start off, don't buy wiper at Walmart for your VW! You actually can't anyway, because Vw blades are especially designed to fit the wiper arm. I just got some for my 2007 Jetta also. They cost 20 each, which is the price of a good wiper anyway.

    As far as changing them, its really not that hard at all. The only thing that might give you trouble is actually raising them off the windshield, since they hide under the hood.

    Here is what you do: put you key in the ignition, and turn it to the mode right before the car starts, then take the key out, and press down on the windshield wiper lever. This should cause the the pause half way through wiping. (instructions all found in manual. Could be under %26quot;service mode%26quot; or something like that.)

    Then, life the wiper of the windshield, and push in the tiny little square on the tip of the wiper arm. After that, you can just slide the wiper blade out.

    I am sure your local VW dealer will help for no charge, or you can just look in the manual

    I just encountered this same issue with my 2007 VW Jetta. I bought and returned several wiper blades from walmart, pep boys, and auto zone before I acctually realized that even though the book in the store says it will work..IT DOESN'T! I should have known its another one of those VW traps.
